The O-Bahn City Access Project was officially opened in December 2017. The project has reduced travel times between Adelaide’s CBD and the northern suburbs for more than 30,000 commuters each week day, and reduced traffic congestion. The project involved the creation of centrally aligned priority bus lanes along Hackney Road, and a dedicated 670 metre bus tunnel. A shared path bridge over the River Torrens at the northern end was also built as part of the project (see Newsletter #42).
WGA carried out all of the structural design and undertook signal design, road lighting design, geotechnical analysis and temporary works engineering, as well as design verification works for other disciplines.
