Following our successful involvement with the St John of God Berwick Specialist Centre in Victoria, WGA was awarded the structural and civil engineering services for the adjacent new St John of God Berwick Hospital, Kangan Drive, Berwick, a joint venture between St John of God Health Care and Generation Healthcare.
Construction was physically completed in October 2017 and, after an intensive operational commissioning phase, the Hospital opened to patients in late January 2018.
Facilities include: two levels of basement carpark; 190 beds including 16 critical care; six operating theatres; a cardio-vascular interventional laboratory; two procedure rooms; six birthing suites; and centralised plant, including a standby generator, immediately above the theatres and on the roof level. Working closely with the builder, Hansen Yuncken, the new hospital was delivered on time and within budget, with minimal disturbance to the Specialist Centre.
