WGA Principal Hydrogeologist and technical expert in managed aquifer recharge, Russell Martin, was recently invited by the International Association of Hydrogeologists South Africa and the Groundwater division of Geological Society of South Africa to present a three-day training workshop in Stellenbosch. The focus of the workshop was on the key technical issues associated with common Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) methods, such as bores and infiltration basins. Russell co-presented the workshop with Ricky Murray from Groundwater Africa incorporating case studies from South Africa and Australia to share the technical, performance and scientific considerations in delivering successful, integrated, and sustainable MAR operations.
Following on from the South African workshop Russell will be presenting two short courses at the upcoming International Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (ISMAR10), Madrid 20 – 24 May 2019. The ISMAR symposium is the premier forum for the dissemination of the latest knowledge on MAR techniques and best practice for people involved in MAR globally.
