WGA is currently involved in the design of multiple correctional facilities. In Victoria, WGA is providing structural engineering for the proposed 1,248 bed maximum security prison, which will become part of the existing prison precinct which includes Barwon Prison, Karreenga Annex and Marngoneet Correctional Centre. Design is currently underway for 28 separate buildings which include a mix of prison accommodation, industry training facilities, educational, processing and administration facilities.
In South Australia, we are providing civil and structural engineering design services for additions to the Adelaide Women’s Prison which will include 20-bed secure accommodation and support infrastructure and a high security accommodation unit with two independent living units. The project is due to be completed late 2019.
In addition, WGA has recently been appointed structural, civil and geotechnical engineers for the Yatala Prison Redevelopment. The project will involve the addition of over 200 beds with a budget in the order of $150 million.
