Delivering a paper and presentation for his work in the Tiwi Islands, the judges commented, “Nick gave a very engaging presentation which discussed the issues, as well as the positive solutions, and emphasised the importance of collaboration within the community.”
Located 80km north of Darwin, The Tiwi Islands are one of the cultural highlights in the Northern Territory comprising Melville Island, Bathurst Island and nine smaller uninhabited islands. Combining maritime and geotechnical services, our Perth and Darwin teams came together to successfully design and deliver a new Visitors Welcome Centre and Ferry Landings.
The design was optimised to reduce onsite construction due to an extremely remote and environmentally challenging site (including 8m tidal ranges). The team worked closely with local residents and ferry operators to determine and manage the needs of all stakeholders to deliver this
project on time.
