Set against the backdrop of red dune terrains, a construction support facility is taking shape at Rio Tinto's Amrun Mine Industrial Area in Weipa, Queensland.
Did you know that the Amrun mine is one of three bauxite mines in Weipa? It's one of Rio Tinto's most recent developments and produces up to 22.8Mt of bauxite annually. The new structure will accommodate an office and crib amenities for a team of over 100 individuals who oversee the Torro Tailings Storage Facility in the vicinity of the mine.
WGA teamed up with Rio Tinto and Goodline to offer an array of engineering services, including civil, structural, and electrical aspects, for this facility. That's not all! – it also features a state-of-the-art soil testing laboratory to further enhance operational efficiency.
Our team, who constantly strive to work smarter, fearlessly took on the challenges posed by the unique, remote location. On-site generators for power and thoughtfully integrated septic tanks within the building's design are some great examples of solution-focused delivery of this self-contained facility.
