Andrew Iarossi
Lighting Technical Lead
ADL

Andrew has over 15 years’ experience working across the urban development, transport and building sectors. Discovering his interest in lighting, Andrew has developed this speciality by completing a Certificate IV in Illumination Engineering. He has significant experience in the design of major residential land developments and subdivisions, specifically high voltage master planning, feeder extensions, negotiation for lighting trials, detail design and approvals.

The technically satisfying and challenging aspects of this specialty drive Andrew’s passion for and expertise in illumination engineering. He closely collaborates with architects and artists to fulfill their vision for feature or artwork projects, whilst pedestrian and street projects are rigorously designed to meet occupational health and safety requirements.

Sustainability has been a significant impact in his field of engineering and Andrew attributes the need for ‘smart lighting’ and ‘smart cities’ as a driving force for innovative design solutions. Andrew aspires in the future to work on a sporting stadium project, the technical pinnacle in illumination engineering, requiring outstanding outcomes for a variety of stakeholders.

Andrew is currently a Technician Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand (TechIES). He led the SA Power Network negotiations for the inclusion of double-outreach and decorative lighting columns for use as an approved lighting arrangement, and undertook independent market research to review and select LED street lighting products suitable for trials. Andrew is involved with Adelaide City Council’s Go Green with Public Lighting LED rollout across Adelaide and North Adelaide.
