Brett Jennings
Bridges & Civil Structures Lead
ADL

Brett is the Technical Director of Civil Structures, bringing an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of transport and infrastructure-based engineering to his work. His expertise has led him across the globe through leading roles on major infrastructure projects, from planning and concept design studies, to detailed design and construction phase works.

He credits his international experiences for providing him with a unique understanding of how differently structures can be designed and built, using a diverse range of engineering methods, practices and standards. Brett feels this knowledge has been hugely beneficial in his career, and regularly draws on his invaluable skill set to promote practical, timely and economical designs.

As a specialist bridge engineer Brett has been involved in the design of over 30 bridges. His hands-on approach encompasses all aspects of bridge design, including inspection and assessment of existing structures. His strong understanding of the interfaces between structures and other key disciplines, affords him with the expertise to provide clients with rigorous design and constructability solutions.

Respected by clients and peers for his broad range of technical experience, Brett’s disciplined approach reflects his dedication to the success of each project and is what brings stability and strength to the foundation of these large-scale operations. The Goodwood Junction Rail Grade Separation demonstrates Brett’s commitment to delivering the highest standards possible. Managing an extremely constrained site and intensely compressed program, Brett worked diligently with the team to deliver all design packages on time. The innovative design solution integrated piled and revetment walls, and incorporated the complexity of executing this project whilst working adjacent to an operating rail line. Similarly, for the Bakewell Underpass, Brett provided critical engineering expertise and managed complex stakeholder and contractor requirements to fulfill key project outcomes to minimise disruption to commuters.

These experiences have fostered Brett’s enthusiasm in learning about the technical aspects of projects and has provided a critical knowledge and skillset base in understanding the intricacies of detailed design phases of projects, and the importance of collaboration and integration between engineering disciplines. Alongside the rapid changes in technology, including 3D digital design methods, documentation and the increasing demand for higher efficiencies and safer controlled environments, Brett is now, more than ever, eager to deliver the highest standards on all aspects in his role.
