Adelaide Brighton Cement - Alternative Fuels Facility

WGA designed an alternative fuels facility at the Osborne cement plant operated by Adelaide Brighton Cement. The existing woodchip handling facility was used to receive, store and inject Process Engineered Fuel (PEF), an alternative fuel (mainly scrap wood) to the calciner. PEF is beneficial for its energy replacement value, as well as the renewable energy benefits such as a reduction in fossil fuel use and landfill emissions. WGA’s design overcame the site challenges of high water-table, low headroom in the existing building and numerous tie-ins to existing equipment.
