BHP Olympic Dam Conveyor Shuttling Mechanism Re-Design

WGA re-designed a failing shuttling mechanism for a critical production conveyor approximately 800m underground. The new design allowed easier maintenance access to the conveyor and shuttling mechanism while providing an improved, robust chain drive system that is far less susceptible to corrosion or encrustation.
To minimise site visits and ensure an effective design could be developed, WGA utilised a 3D scanner to comprehensively capture and survey the conveyor and tunnel limits.
