City of Perth Water Supply Options
City of Perth has engaged WGA to manage the risk that comes with declining groundwater volumes, climate variability and a single water supply source.
Over 70% of the city's public open space irrigation water is sourced from groundwater, with most coming from a single bore.
Groundwater management engineers from our Adelaide and Perth offices are working together to identify alternative water sources such as stormwater or recycled water to add flexibility and resilience to their irrigation system.
The work includes predicting future irrigation demand, identifying efficiency improvements, determining the right standard of water treatment to use, and investigating the feasibility of Managed Aquifer Recharge techniques.
Three supply concept models will be subjected to a detailed cost-benefit analysis to identify the most suitable option.
