The new "C4LI" project at Carey Grammar was opened by the Governor of Victoria.

Built over four levels, the new facility, catering for both humanities and science, includes an Information and Resource Centre which features a dramatic “book cliff” and provides spaces for social gatherings, group study, research, quiet reading and individual reflection.

The top level accommodates the “United Nations” and “Cabinet” rooms, and a Sky Deck cantilevering 8m providing spectacular views over Melbourne. To achieve the “book cliff” effect the floor plates were cantilevered further out at each successive level. An unpropped steel composite solution was adopted, avoiding the need for multi-level propping.

The project achieved four Green Stars under the Green Building Council of Australia design standard.
