The Project
Oz Minerals engaged WGA to assist in the investigation of methods to maximise additional undercover copper concentrate storage area and minimise dust from the storage and loading facility at their Carrapateena mine site.
Technical Solutions
A unique system of synchronised pocketwheel driven winches combined with synchronised hydraulic lifting equipment allows the installation to occur in a modular sequence and controlled manner to avoid the need for large cranes within the destination footprint, which would have otherwise interrupted the business-as usual-operation.
Client Focus
A number of solutions were optioneered, taking into account impact on operations, constructability and cost. The new 60m x 70m shelter will be built in two segments adjacent to the area to minimise undue downtime due to construction, and pulled into position above the concentrate storage area.
The Copper Concentrate Storage Shelter Upgrade is included in the following sectors & services.
