The Market to Riverbank Link is a key City of Adelaide/Renewal SA infrastructure project to link the Riverbank and Adelaide Railway Station to the Market District. For the small streets and lane ways that connect the two precincts, this upgrade will provide a more vibrant and pedestrian/cyclist friendly setting, with more outdoor dining, cafés and small bars.
WGA worked with the City of Adelaide Urban Design team to provide civil, structural and lighting engineering services for the Bank Street and Topham Mall stage of this project. Bringing our experience of working within highly developed areas, WGA navigated the detailed design process through the numerous constraints, including the ever present and large number of existing services that are common in a precinct of this nature.
The design phase of this project was also delivered in a compressed time frame, whilst achieving all of the desired outcomes set by Council and the key stakeholders. WGA undertook superintendency services and design input throughout the construction phase, to ensure smooth delivery for Council from concept to completion.
Our team was awarded the Illuminating Engineering Society's 2019 Award of Excellence for the lighting design on the Topham North Upgrade. WGA provided a robust lighting design and electrical engineering to the arbor structure. Down lights were designed to provide an even wash of colour over the space, using the minimal amount of luminaries. The latest technology in programming, the system runs DMX programming from a centralised location and is programed to run color changing RGB.
WGA has been engaged to undertake services for stage 2 of the project which includes work in Topham Mall South, Bentham Street and Pitt Street.
