The Project

WGA is designing a new iron ore export facility situated on the old Port Augusta Power Station site on SA’s Eyre Peninsula. The new facility will provide a cost-effective solution for regional miners to export their products utilising Capesize bulk carriers.

Technical Solutions

WGA was engaged shortly after project conception and was responsible for conducting and overseeing the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design phases of the project. High level engineering assessments and 3D spatial model layouts were undertaken to assist with the successful Development Approval process.

Significant retained infrastructure including the rail wagon unloading station will be supplemented with a series of new conveyors and bulk storage sheds. Front end loader reclaim and conveyor transfer to a purpose built self-loading / self-unloading barge completes the system.

Client Focus

As WGA is the sole engineering consultant on the project, the full suite of Project Management functions were carried out in-house to manage project outputs to the client’s satisfaction.
