The Project
WGA provided design, documentation and construction support of a bauxite offloading facility at the Skardon River in far Northern Queensland.
The scope included design of a Barge Loading Facility (BLF), a Marine Offloading Facility, cyclone moorings, navigation aids and a tidal gauge. As the site is very remote with limited access by road, the BLF was required first so that barges could offload the plant, equipment and personnel required to construct the main facility.
The Skardon River is included in the following sectors & services.
