The Project
Lithium Australia were conducting studies into expanding and optimising their EnviroStream (EVS) infrastructure, in response to increase in collection volumes. Several scenarios for expansion of the hub and spoke operations were being investigated to expand the current infrastructure. WGA supported Lithium Australia in development of a techno-economic model to optimise EVS infrastructure expansion, for both short term (1-2 years), and medium term (3-5 years) across a wide range of inputs and to rapidly assess the economic outcomes of clearly defined scenarios for expansion.
Technical Solutions
Through our modelling requirements and specification definition approach WGA held scoping workshops with the client to understand and define key modelling requirements, including required inputs, data required, core modelling logic, and delivered both modelling inputs templates and logic and data flow diagrams for alignment before undertaking modelling.
WGA supported EVS by developing an excel interface with logic coded in Excel VBA. This ensuredease of review of logic by the client, and repeatable logic was captured and correctly used throughout model. The dashboard provided EVS with the speed necessary to perform their own small-scale scenario analyses.
Client Outcomes
Through collaboration with WGA, the client was able to rapidly assess the economic outcomes of clearly defined scenarios for expansion across a wide range of industry specific metrics and ensure that strategic business expansion is backed by sound data with repeatable and interrogatable analysis.
