John is a Principal Structural Engineer, responsible for civil design, structural design, supervising documentation preparation, quality assurance and the certification of commercial, residential and industrial building projects, with an emphasis on reinforced concrete structures.
He gained his initial experience in engineering in Ireland, where he worked on a range of Government, local government and commercial projects including design and build contracts and traditional construction works. With over 15 years experience in the industry, John is familiar with a wide range of building methodologies, project management and cost management strategies. Adding a constructive presence to a design team for civil and structural issues, he has a focused understanding on all aspects of different building designers within a professional team.
John’s Australian experience started early in his carrier spending time in Sydney working on the Leighton/Aecom North-West Connect Project, and has extended to projects throughout Western Australia in the last five years from Esperence to Karratha, to Christmas Island, and back to environmentally sensitive structures on the Swan River in Perth. This experience has developed John’s expertise and professional approach to engineering solutions.
John has worked on the Civil and Structural design of several schools in Western Australia, for both the private and public sectors providing increased community infrastructure. John has enjoyed working on Western Australia’s largest shopping centres improving the retail sector of Perth and has a keen interest in sporting and recreational projects..
Completing his Civil Engineering Diploma, Structural Engineering Degree, with an Environmental Engineering Master Research Degree, John has developed a keen interest in the holistic approaches to designs , offering effective engineering solutions to meet the clients brief and budget.
John currently sits on the Committee for the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA) – Western Australia, and has contributed to the sharing of innovations in concrete design and the maximizing of new technologies for use in construction by organising technical evening seminars and networking events. He has also presented at a number of technical seminars and conferences for both the CIA and The Australasian Corrosion Association Inc.
