Shayne Burns had initially planned to study Accounting, but during a gap year stumbled into Surveying, GIS and Engineering, where he saw the opportunity to make an impact In his community.
His work has taken him to remote Australian landscapes for the resources sector and to Vanuatu on a Aid Development projects. Here, Shayne worked with a local government departments to develop standards, design urban road and stormwater networks and provide safe pedestrian access to the major transport routes in and around Port Vila. He was inspired by the positive impact of engineering work on communities in developing nations.
Shayne maintains a sense of adventure and believes in immense potential for those willing to fiercely pursue big goals.
Shayne holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from University of Southern Queensland and a Diploma of Management from MWT Institute.
He’s known for giving the best Secret Santa gifts, has a knack for convincing team members to take up power lifting, and he once won the ultra-competitive Avocado Roll at the world-renowned Blackbutt Avocado Festival.
