Melbourne Growth

Four of our Adelaide-based senior staff have relocated to Melbourne to further strengthen our office and to meet the growing demand in the Victorian Civil Infrastructure and Temporary Works sectors. Greg Zafiridis – Principal Structural Engineer, Alex Lloyd – Principal Civil Engineer, Lee Milne – Senior Civil Designer and Ben Lewis – Structural Drafter, relocated in January and are now well settled into their new office. This group have played major roles in the delivery of significant infrastructure projects in SA including the O-Bahn City Access Project ($160m) and the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project ($896m). They are already busy in Victoria assisting John Holland with temporary works design for part of the North-West Program Alliance, which is delivering 11 grade separations, and Downer with the replacement of the Hopkins River Bridge and proof engineering for McConnell Dowell on the Murray Basin Rail Project.

Our heavy lift experts are working closely with Multiplex on one of Melbourne’s most exciting developments, the Collins Arch (shown in image), which occupies an entire city block and will be one of the city’s largest office developments. WGA has designed the heavy lifting and rigging for over 50 architectural precast columns and beams. As the site is surrounded by major CBD roads on all sides, all the lifts required multiple cranes using combinations of mobile and tower cranes to pick, rotate and lift the enormous asymmetric precast sections from the delivery vehicle to their final position.
