New Roof for Memorial Drive Tennis Centre

A significant upgrade to Adelaide’s Memorial Drive Tennis Centre will soon enable the historic venue to host international-standard tennis tournaments.

WGA is part of the team delivering the $10m redevelopment, which will feature a single-span lightweight roof across the existing stands and centre courts. We have also provided geotechnical and heavy lifting advice to McMahon Services who were responsible for removing the existing southern grandstand roof in preparation for the new roof structure. The 70m long structure was removed in one piece with the roof sheeting intact (as pictured) and lowered onto the existing court surface where it will be broken down and removed from site. The project is being delivered on a very compressed program to achieve a December 2019 completion so this approach saved valuable time and reduced the need to work at height.

This is a great example of a project where our multi-disciplinary approach has been beneficial to the client through the integration of our structural, geotechnical and industrial teams.
