It's been just over a year since the Torrens Road to River Torrens section of Adelaide’s North-South corridor was opened to the public. The project has created a 4km non-stop section of road including a 3km lowered motorway, saving some of the 115,000 motorists who use it each day, up to ten minutes of travel time. This was the first Alliance contract for a major road project in South Australia, and delivered a number of innovations. The introduction of a soil nail design solution as part of the lowered motorway is thought to be the first of its type in Australia, and resulted in significant cost savings for the Alliance.
WGA staff led the traffic analysis, road design, pavements, water sensitive urban design, geotechnical and lighting teams, and provided support in the areas of structures, retaining walls, drainage and services. T2T was recently awarded a CCF SA Earth Award and achieved a 'Leading' As Built infrastructure sustainability Rating.
