Birkenhead's Iconic Infrastructure Upgrade

Last year the State Government funded a $3.73 million upgrade of the bridge to ensure the bridge’s long term safety and structural integrity. WGA was engaged by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport to undertake the design of a new lightweight roadway decking for the bascule spans of the bridge. Other works included replacing the eastern timber footpath with an aluminium footpath, associated steel protection works, asphalt surfacing and line-marking.
