
Appointment of Astrid Hagqvist
Engineering and Project Management consultancy WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec) has announced the appointment of Astrid Hagqvist as Joint Regional Manager for Victoria and Tasmania.
In collaboration with Matt Hyatt, Astrid will spearhead the continued strengthening of WGA’s Victorian operations, which have been established in Melbourne for over 25 years. Additionally, as the business expands into Tasmania, she will support the strategic growth of the Tasmanian operations in partnership with a locally based team.
Introducing Astrid to the business, Matt Hyatt said “Astrid brings a wealth of knowledge and industry expertise with a well-established local network across multiple sectors including Transport and Defence. Known for her people-centric leadership, she deeply understands client requirements and the challenges and complexities of the consulting environment.”
Astrid is a Chartered Engineer who has enhanced her leadership skills at Oxford Saïd Business School, specialising in strategic projects. Her 17 years of engineering experience is grounded in a strong technical background in road and rail engineering, design management, project management, and managing complex stakeholders. She also proudly serves Australia as an Army Reserve Officer, where she honed her experience in Defence projects and military leadership roles. She is a recipient of the Chief of Army prize. Within the industry, Astrid is a respected member of the Roads Australia community. She completed the Roads Australia Fellowship in 2022 and has served on the Roads Australia Transport Reform expert panel.
