The Project
Americold Spearwood is a temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics facility located in Bibra Lake, Western Australia. In collaboration with BADGE Constructions, WGA provided civil engineering input to design the new Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) vehicle accessway, user carpark, and drainage works associated with the facility expansion and installation of a new automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) freezer.
Technical Solutions
The scope of works involved the design of new site accessways and light vehicle carparking including the design of a new DFES accessway into the site in the event of a fire emergency.
WGA’s design solution also included the installation of a new underground pit and pipe drainage system and infiltration cells for the discharge of stormwater collected by the new ASRS freezer, user carpark and DFES accessway. The drainage system was carefully engineered to ensure all stormwater captured by the existing and new structures were captured and not directed towards the new ASRS building.
Client Focus
WGA provided tailored engineering solutions to support Americold’s operational expansion, ensuring safe emergency services access, efficient site functionality, and effective stormwater management. Our contribution has ensured the protection of the new ASRS freezer and aligned with Americold’s operational and safety objectives.
