The Project
Developed for RES in conjunction with Vestas, the Tarong West Wind Farm is located near Mannuem, Queensland. It will consist of up to 97 turbines each 280m in height and is set to power 230,00 homes. There will be hardstand areas for the turbines, access roads, electrical substations, and overhead and underground electrical reticulation.
Technical Solutions
The wind turbine designer, manufacturer and installer, Vestas Australia Wind Technology, engaged WGA to undertake an early works design and documentation of the civil infrastructure including turbine foundations, access roads, hardstands, drainage, earthworks, hydrology and drainage, laydown areas, and other associated civil infrastructure.
With five major risk waterways and three high risk waterways crossing the site, WGA conducted a flood study to inform the infrastructure design including infrastructure locations, levels, and immunity requirements to protect these waterways.
Client Focus
WGA’s collaboration with Vestas ensures the Tarong West Wind Farm windfarm can progress with reduced risk and keep the project in line with its objectives. RES can with confidence provide local energy benefits and community funding, create hundreds of jobs, preserve and protect cultural and environmental values and minimise impacts to farming.
