The Project
CBH Group is upgrading its rail loading infrastructure and capacity at key receival sites in its network. Brookton is a grain receival site originally established in 1972 and located 135km southeast of Perth, Western Australia. The existing over-rail out-loading facility at Brookton consists of 4 x 500t over-rail bins. The project consists of expanding this existing facility by constructing an additional 2 x 5000t V-bottom silos in the location of a soon to be decommissioned G type fixed storage. These additional Silos alongside the existing 500t bins also prompted a replacement of the existing over-silo conveyor system to facilitate grain in-loading at 750 tph.
Technical Solutions
As lead engineers, WGA has provided civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, controls and instrumentation engineering for the project. Works progressed from concept design through to issue for construction level. The design caters for the various grain types received and transported by CBH Group including wheat, lupins, oats, barley and canola.
Client Focus
WGA’s contribution allows the Brookton facility to expand its permanent storage capacity. This meets the loading facility project aims to improve out-loading speed and direct out-loading storage capacity. It will reduce train turnaround times, improve efficiency in rail operations, and improve safety with less manual handling and truck movements during out loading operations safety.
