The Project

WGA supported Alexandrina Council in the delivery of the Milang Storage Lagoon Expansion, a key infrastructure upgrade designed to improve long-term capacity and performance of the Milang Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The project addressed winter storage challenges while supporting future growth of the community within the region. Upgrades included a new 20 ML HDPE-lined wastewater storage lagoon, transfer mains and an irrigation pump station as part of the council’s broader wastewater network and future proofing.

Technical Solutions

WGA delivered a multidisciplinary scope including geotechnical investigations, water balance assessments, surface water assessments and detailed design of the new storage lagoon. WGA’s involvement extended from early design and planning phases through to superintendency, construction verification and project handover to Alexandrina Council.

The design considered increasing inflows associated with the growth of the community, integration with existing in wastewater infrastructure, including connection to transfer pipework. Geotechnical investigations informed the lagoon depth and overall design approach, ensuring solutions responded appropriately to local ground conditions.
