Finalist of the NAWIC 2024 National Crystal Vision Award

WGA was a proud finalist at the National Awards for Excellence, after winning the 2024 Crystal Vision Award in South Australia. This award recognises individuals and businesses that actively advocate for and strive to empower women in the construction industry.

While we did not take the national trophy home, we were inspired to see the incredible and talented women and their contributions to the industry.

Upon reflection from the night, we asked ourselves, who is worthy of a Crystal Vision award? Isn’t it just Business as Usual? Expected practice these days?

As a business, we’ve asked ourselves these questions often. And along the journey of exploring equality in our industry, we’ve developed this outlook: Organisations alone can’t drive change. It takes passionate and dedicated people who bring their unique perspectives and their creative thinking, and combine it with courage to share these talents and experiences to help us create an equitable workforce.

At WGA, we’d like to think we give a safe platform for those individuals to contribute to change.

Four years ago, we had the bare minimum – the most basic policies you can imagine. Benchmarking ourselves against others, we asked, “How can we do this better?” How can we create an environment where women can thrive and excel in their careers? How can we make this industry attractive to everyone?

But we didn’t just look at our leadership team. We asked everyone. Our people responded, and now we can share some of our recent key achievements, such as:

A finalist in the National Crystal Vision Award is just the beginning for us – it tells us we’re on the right track.

As such, we are committed to continuing our efforts to drive progress and innovation to help create an equitable future for the construction industry as a whole.
