The Project
The Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm project is located approximately 7km east of the town of Georgetown in the mid north region of South Australia, on the traditional land of the Nukunu Peoples.
The project will contribute to South Australia’s clean energy targets by integrating renewable energy and enhancing energy security to the region.
The wind farm is being co-developed by Aula Energy and Renewable Project Services and will generate 256.2 megawatts using 42 turbines and 12.8km of 275 kilovolt transmission line connecting into the existing Davenport to Brinkworth line.
Technical Solutions
The WGA team collaborated closely with DT Infrastructure to provide support during the early contractor involvement design phase. This partnership focused on optimising the civil works to ensure cost-effectiveness, constructability, and efficiency in delivery. In addition, WGA developed preliminary structural foundation designs tailored to the requirements of the turbine supplier, enabling seamless integration between civil and structural elements including access roads, hardstands, drainage, wind turbine generator foundations and other associated civil infrastructure.
Client Focus
WGA’s collaboration in the early works not only contributed to providing greater certainty for project stakeholders but also established a strong foundation for the detailed design and construction phases to follow.
