The Project
Designed to elevate women’s sport, Narrandjeri Stadium provides the Darebin community with a world-class venue for local and regional competitions. Located at John Cain Memorial Park in Thornbury, Victoria, the $35m purpose-built development offers courts for netball, basketball, volleyball, roller derby and badminton, creating a vibrant hub the local sporting community.
Technical Solutions
WGA provided comprehensive civil and structural engineering services for the stadium, ensuring durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. Glulam timber design elements were incorporated throughout, adding warmth and sustainability to the modern architecture.
The western wing houses a multi-court space with 3 x full size multi-purpose sports courts, while the eastern wing includes a fourth dedicated show court with 300 seat grandstand, for elite level competitions, exhibition games and special events. A function/ social room sits at the heart of the complex, linking the two wings encouraging community connection.
