WGA was engaged by local NT company, Halikos Construstion, to provide civil and structural design services for the new Nightcliff Police Station in Darwin. The new station will accommodate up to 100 officers and provide shared community spaces.
As an Importance Level 4 Structure, the facility is required to remain operational during and after catastrophic events, such as a cyclone. Design challenges unique to Darwin’s tropical environment included ensuring the building would be resistant to potential flying debris during strong winds.
Construction has now commenced with completion due in the first half of 2021.
