Victoria University is a dual-sector university offering vocational and higher education courses, with over 40,000 enrolled students across its various campuses. WGA was engaged by ADCO Construction to deliver the structural and civil engineering design
Technical Solutions
WGA delivered the project under a Design and Construction contract with the builder. The 13-storey building comprises single-occupant and multi-occupant apartments, a communal space, associated resident facilities, administration facilities, retail spaces on the ground floor, along with rooftop plant and communal terraces. Key focus areas included:
- Structural: Composite slabs spanning between load-bearing precast walls, with several walls transferring loads to columns at Level 1, creating open communal spaces at the ground floor. The design also incorporates feature V-columns at the north and south ends of the building.
- Civil: On‑site stormwater detention designed to limit discharge to pre‑development flow rates, achieved through a combination of an in‑ground Versitank system and oversized concrete pipes.
Client Focus
Working collaboratively with our client and partners, WGA delivered a successful residential infrastructure that is now home to over 500 students at Victoria University’s Footscray Campus.
