The Project
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council sought to provide a high quality recreation facility in Rosebud, Victoria. The Yawa Aquatic Centre was developed to encourage community health and wellbeing, and facilitate the learning of water safety on the Mornington Peninsula.
Technical Solutions
WGA was engaged by Peddle Thorp Architects to provide civil and structural services for the facility. The scope of works included the design and documentation of:
- Wall framing, stability elements, required precast/blockwork walls, and suspended concrete slabs, beams, and columns.
- Lightweight roof framing, façade steel, and other miscellaneous structural elements.
- Pool aprons and decks
- Underground stormwater drainage to legal point of discharge, including retention/overflow and coordination of downpipe connections.
- External paving, including footpaths, crossovers, and grading.
- Retaining walls, steps, and ramps.
- Service roads, forecourts, courtyards, and hardscape areas.
- Inspections and engagement with key stakeholders at critical stages of construction
