Baden Harrison Buildings Lead - QLD | Defence & Space Lead - NSW
BNE
Baden has an extensive structural engineering background with over 15 years of experience across a diverse portfolio of projects and sectors including Defence, commercial, educational, government, health care and industrial.
Originally from country Victoria, Baden studied engineering and established his career in Adelaide before taking a year-long sabbatical to travel throughout Europe. Whilst Baden thoroughly enjoyed this time away, experiencing his first European winter, and sourcing inspiration from the incredibly detailed aspects of their architecture and built environs, he was eager to get back to Australia and begin his dynamic career in a country he is proud to call home. It was Baden’s return when he joined WGA to lead the team in developing capability across the Defence sector.
In 2020 Baden relocated to Brisbane to open a new office and establish WGA’s capabilities in the Eastern States.
Baden’s in-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise are instrumental in liaising with sub-consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders, resulting in the successful delivery of projects. Recognised for his ability to lead teams, Baden provides the framework for a streamlined approach that both meets and exceeds client expectations.
Baden was selected to be part of WGA’s leadership development course tasked with investigating how to best deliver inter-office projects. This experience was a tremendous asset in navigating a significant challenge for the industry to face; the COVID-19 pandemic. Baden recognises that this unprecedented worldwide crisis has provided a unique opportunity to fast-track the implementation of many of the key principles and actions developed for how business can be done. At the heart of this new way of working, is harnessing the collective talents across WGA, regardless of geographical location.
Internally, Baden mentors young engineers at WGA, recognising the importance of knowledge sharing and equipping them with the tools to become well-rounded engineers. A professional career inspiration of his own is to continue his involvement in national Defence projects with like-minded engineers to maintain the security of Australia, something Baden feels passionately about and derives immense satisfaction in contributing to.
Baden’s project experience includes:
- AIR 7000 Phase 1B and AIR 555
