Scott is a structural engineer with a combined 15 years of experience in both consulting and structural engineering research and academia. Scott’s areas of expertise include earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, non-linear analysis and the design and documentation of reinforced concrete, structural steel and timber buildings. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (structural) and has experience designing buildings in the health, government, education, transport and residential sectors.
Scott is the President of the Australian Earthquake Engineering Society and an industry recognised expert in earthquake engineering and the design of lateral load resisting systems in multi-storey buildings. He has delivered multiple seminars/webinars on these topics. He was awarded the 2019 and 2022 RW Chapman Medal from Engineers Australia in recognition of his contribution to seismic design in Australia. Scott is a member of the Standards Australia sub-committees BD-002-08 and BD-006-11, which are responsible for the seismic design provisions in the Australian standard for Concrete Structures (AS 3600) and the Australian Standard for Earthquake actions (AS 1170.4), respectively.
Scott maintains an active research and teaching status at Swinburne University of Technology. He has authored/co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed published works, including book chapters, journal articles, conference papers and textbook titled Collision Actions on Structures.
