Stephan Dickinson Ports & Marine Market Lead - WA
PER
A Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience, Stephan knew by the age of 12 exactly what he wanted to pursue
What started off as a natural aptitude for Maths and Sciences led him to pursue Civil Engineering, first with a diploma straight after school, then with a degree in the field. Immediately after, he spent over 6 years gaining hands-on experience with a major contractor before transitioning into maritime consultancy. This quickly became his passion, and he has spent the rest of his career building deep expertise across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Stephan’s career has taken him across a diverse mix of projects, from spending two years leading the design and delivery of three ferry terminals in Scotland’s Shetland Islands to working on large-scale wharf remediation projects in Western Australia.
More recently, he has played a key role in the WGA LDE integration and has been instrumental in strengthening and expanding WGA’s Ports and Maritime capabilities in New Zealand.
As an accomplished industry expert, Stephan is very passionate about contributing to progressing the industry- whether it’s by mentoring young engineers, encouraging practical application of engineering fundamentals, or engaging with industry associations like PIANC, Ports Australia, the Institution of Civil Engineers and Engineers Australia.
His enthusiasm for sharing knowledge also extends to his client interactions, where he enjoys working collaboratively to find the right solution for every challenge. For Stephan, seeing an idea or design transform into a tangible outcome is one of the most rewarding aspects of engineering.
