Coopers Gap Windfarm is one of Australia’s largest wind projects and will generate enough energy to power 264,000 homes. Located three hours north-west of Brisbane, the windfarm will generate in excess of 453MW of power and consist of 123 Wind Turbine Generators connected into the national electricity market.
We were engaged by CATCON in 2016 to assist with the feasibility and planning stages and complete the preliminary tender design. We have recently completed the design, documentation and construction supervision of the windfarm infrastructure including access tracks, drainage, turbine foundations, geotechnical site assessments, and design of the operations and maintenance facility.
The site is characterised by steep topography and environmental constraints meaning careful planning was required to optimise access infrastructure for the delivery of the sizeable turbines. Through 3D modelling and site assessments, routes were planned and delivered, optimising earthwork outcomes.
WGA has developed bespoke in-house tools and knowledge in delivering foundation designs which has delivered efficient and cost-effective solutions.
