WGA completed the structural and civil design, including construction support for the Granville Harbour Wind Farm project in Tasmania for Lucas Total Contract Solutions. The project is a 112MW wind farm consisting of 31 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and included approximately 20 kms of access roads.
The unfavourable ground conditions and heavy rainfall made the project unique, and innovative thinking was required. Geotextiles were utilised to provide a more robust solution and reduce the thickness of the roads and hardstands.
The foundations are very large given the hub height of the turbines. In depth analysis and Finite Element Analysis was performed to optimise the concrete and reinforcement quantities and provide the most cost-effective solution to our client.
