The Project

An in-pit tailings storage facility was being developed at a major gold mine to provide additional tailings storage capacity and manage groundwater mounding beneath the existing tailings facility. The project included an extension to the tailings booster pump station, and a 5,900m pipeline corridor for the tailings and decant return lines.

Technical Solutions

WGA delivered process, mechanical, structural and civil design for the booster station, tailings and decant pipelines, and associated systems. WGA developed the design documentation to reflect current and future operational requirements, including process design criteria, mass and water balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams. WGA provided full documentation including 3D models, engineering deliverables and shop drawings. The pipeline corridor layout incorporated spill containment measures, such as earthen bunds and pipe-in-pipe sections, to reduce environmental risk.

Client Focus

WGA’s design approach ensured a reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible solution aligned with long-term operational needs.
