The Project
Peters Ice Cream is a beloved Australian ice cream brand since 1907. Their Mulgrave factory in southeast Melbourne sought to expand their factory operations in 2021, which involved the extension of the existing production facilities designated Building 01.
WGA partnered with Peters Ice Cream to deliver an integrated suite of project management and multi-disciplinary engineering services, including structural, civil, traffic, and waste management expertise.
Beyond engineering, WGA also led the coordination and design management of a broad group of sub-consultants, overseeing architectural, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, fire, communications, and security services.
Technical Solutions
As the civil designers and project management consultants, WGA supported the project from initial investigations through to execution and operational readiness.
The project involved several key technical components critical to its successful delivery, including:
- Extension and integration of critical building services to support new production equipment
- Structural design to support significant loads across multiple levels and service corridors
- Management and coordination of complex, multi-disciplinary design inputs from concept to construction
- Detailed planning and design documentation to support procurement, development approvals, and delivery
Other key functions also included design management of a multi-disciplinary design team, design services for the new and refurbished works, tender documentation, cost control, time and schedule management, stakeholder engagement, and contract administration.
WGA’s ability to integrate design, delivery, and project management disciplines under one coordinated approach enabled the successful delivery of a complex industrial expansion.
