The Project
The new Port Pirie Regional Health Service Emergency Department Redevelopment, completed in February, represents a significant investment in regional healthcare that enhances emergency service delivery for the Mid North community.
Developed for SA Health and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), the project was driven by a vision to create a modern, resilient and patient-centred emergency department that responds to growing healthcare demands, improves infection control and patient safety, and strengthens the hospital’s ability to support the region during emergencies and future health challenges.
The new facility delivers expanded treatment capacity, dedicated resuscitation facilities, improved patient flow and a welcoming new entry experience for patients, visitors and staff.
Technical Solutions
WGA provided civil, structural, geotechnical and traffic engineering services for the Port Pirie Regional Hospital redevelopment, supporting the delivery of a complex healthcare facility within an operational hospital environment.
Our team worked closely with the broader consultant team to address:
- Site constraints
- Flood resilience
- Access requirements
- Servicing interfaces
- Integration of the new emergency department with the existing health campus
Client Focus
Working collaboratively with SA Health, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), and the broader consultant team, WGA helped deliver a facility that will serve the Port Pirie community for decades to come.
The Port Pirie Regional Hospital demonstrates the value of a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to delivering complex healthcare infrastructure, ensuring the new emergency department meets the needs of patients, staff and the wider community while supporting the future resilience of regional health services.
