Chris Pay Buildings Civil Technical Lead
MEL

Chris is Senior Principal Civil Engineer in WGA’s Melbourne Office. Originally from the United Kingdom and having travelled throughout Australia, Chris has worked across a diverse range of engineering codes, standards and specifications.

Surrounded by a talented team of people and with more than 30 years experience in road works and civil design, Chris leads the Melbourne office to deliver outstanding project solutions for clients. His passion for engineering is driven by the diversity of each project and the unique set of challenges that need to be solved to deliver a successful outcome on time and budget. Chris notes that as developers have snapped up the simple building sites across Melbourne, remaining sites are increasingly complicated. He is relishing the opportunity that has resulted, working with these more difficult sites and enjoying the thorough investigation and research required to make them work.

Chris works with the mantra to take any opportunity and not be limited to one type of project. This is reflected in the variety of projects he has been involved across retail, education and healthcare, such as the Coles Showgrounds Village Retail Centre and St John of God Hospital in Berwick.

Chris is very much client focused and has built a reputation for the delivery of projects at the highest standard. Reflecting his fascination with the challenge of solving problems, Chris proactively looks at all possibilities to present the most cost effective and efficient engineering solutions for each project. His expertise covers master planning, earthworks, roadworks storm water drainage, civil infrastructure and pavement design. This broad depth of knowledge provides Chris with the surety to expertly manage intricately detailed sites, resolving any project complexities with resourceful engineering solutions.
