Jim Hutchison Ports and Marine Lead – QLD
BNE

Jim was born in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea and came to Queensland with his family when he was 11. Travel has been a big part of 35 plus years of Engineering career, particularly with container terminal developments right around the world for P&O International Ports (now DP World). He’s now enjoying more travel as he lends his expertise on Ports & Marine projects with our NZ team.

Perhaps Jim’s most vivid childhood memory from PNG was a school trip where the class climbed into the crater of an ‘extinct’ volcano, which later erupted in 1994. Fortunately, this did not put him off outdoor pursuits, and he’s played all four football codes, cricket and golf, and these days loves snow skiing and riding road and mountain bikes. In fact it’s the ‘best of both worlds’ combination of outdoor work in the field, and technical office work, that Jim loves the most about Engineering work.

Jim is a Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust) and Registered with the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (RPEQ).
