Tom McFarlane Roads Technical Lead
ADL

As a Civil Engineer graduate Tom worked in London for 12 months as a Traffic Engineer. Returning to Australia, he consolidated his experience by working in a variety of Civil Engineering fields including road, rail and urban infrastructure.

Tom’s willingness to extend his expertise across these fields has seen him involved in a wide range of urban infrastructure, subdivision and transportation projects. From the Torrens-to-Torrens and Independent Design Verification of major transport projects to numerous recreational and sporting facilities, it is evident that Tom has an excellent understanding of road and highway design, intersection upgrades and urban infrastructure.

Following his perceptive intuition, Tom enjoys challenging his client’s initial views to thoroughly explore their project needs, and examine all aspects of their overarching operational objectives. He works closely with clients from concept design phase, through to construction supervision and management.

Closely aligning his passion for sports, Tom particularly enjoys working on sports and recreation facilities, and has successfully delivered outstanding results that include the Mt Barker Regional Sports Hub, Netball SA Court Resurfacing and Athletics SA Stadium. He prides himself on these projects, among many other tennis, bowling and hockey club facilities, as he highly regards the positive and long lasting impact such venues have on the local community.

Tom credits progressive civil engineering interfaces as giving him the ability to gain a greater understanding of other fields. Alongside a solid base knowledge and excellent client rapport, his engaging determination to deliver the highest possible standards, provides an invaluable service to clients.
